Who is this website for?

This website is aimed at young people in years 7 to 13 (age 11 - 18) who are studying textiles at school. Much of the information will, however, also be relevant to others who are studying textiles at a different level, as well as those doing textiles at home for fun.
What are the website’s aims?

The website aims to support young people studying textiles or doing textiles at home for fun. It has tips, ideas, projects, revision information, ‘how to’ guides and much more. It is biased towards D&T textiles but lots of the information will be of use to anyone studying art textiles as well.
Who is Julie Boyd?

I worked as a D&T teacher for nearly 30 years before becoming an Education Consultant. You can see one of my classrooms in the photo below. I now train teachers and work as an author, as well as doing some part time work as a textiles designer maker. I consider myself a D&T teacher, and am passionate about all types of D&T teaching, but my roots lie within textiles, and this is my specialist area, and something I can’t imagine life without in some form or another. Does this website have information for teachers?
The website is aimed at students but teachers will also find the information useful. The website actually originally began as a website for teachers but I now use www.julieboyd.co.uk for this purpose.
